Let’s be real, most of us are busy and as much as we’d like to have a fridge filled with homemade snacks, sometimes it isn’t possible. The good thing is that there are a lot of great energy bar brands that are made with simple ingredients and very low in sugars. You gotta be picky though because you’ll find a lot of brands that claim to be healthy but in reality they’re packed with sugars and other ingredients that you can’t even pronounce.
Some ingredients that I do my best to stay away from are: wheat, whey, sugars, fructose, corn syrup, rice syrup (have it occasionally, if you choose to), sucralose, xylitol, erythritol (these last two are popular in the Keto community. Personally, I try to avoid them because they make bloated.)
So here are some brands that I’ve tried and loved!
- Hands down my ultimate favorite brand. They’re delicious and completely free of fake sugars, it’s also low in sugars and packed with healthy fats to keep you going. Carry a couple in your purpose to prevent HANger.
- This another great brand truly packed with healthy fats. They have plenty of flavors, but salted caramel is my favorite!
- Perfect for the brownie lover. Made with real food ingredients- 100% chocolate, egg whites for protein, dates to bind, nuts for texture. 12 gram of protein. 5 gram fiber. And like the other brands is also gluten free.
- This is another favorite. It’s also super low in sugars (2 grams/bar). It’s sweeten with stevia extract and made with ingredients you can pronounce. I usually buy it at Sprouts or Whole Foods.
And if you’d like to try making your own energy bars/snacks, here are few ideas to inspire some healthy creations from your cozy kitchen:
