One of the most popular questions I get is about supplements for energy and better digestion.
So I thought to share the list of supplements that have been working for me.
Keep in mind that it took me some trial and error to find the right combo for my body.
The truth is that the amounts and frequency varies throughout the months depending on how I feel and what my body is going through. There’s no combination set on a stone.
Our bodies, like everything in life, are constantly changing and therefore our nutrient needs are going to vary as well.
These supplements for energy and better digestion also help my my body reduce inflammation, keep my skin acne-free and absorb nutrients with more ease.
So if you’re curious to know the blend of supplements I take daily, keep scrolling.
The brands I use are free of fillers, soy, corn, wheat and fake sugars.
But! Here’s the big BUT…
Remember that regardless of how pure a supplement is, it’s only meant to supplement an already healthy nutrition. There’s no pill that will make up for bad eating habits. So if you need a little inspiration to get yourself back on track download my 15-Minute Healthy Meal Plan
And if you’re at a point where you’re fed up of feeling tired, bloated and like you have no control over your body, then click HERE to schedule a free 20-minute nutritional consultation to discuss your symptoms. I’ll share how I can help you get back on track permanently. – No restrictive diets, no starvation needed, no BS. – Check out what other women like you have to say.
Cod Liver Oil
The main reason I started taking cod liver oil over a decade ago was because my dermatologist was about to prescribe me Accutane to help control my stubborn acne. But since I had read plenty of really bad stories about this medication, I decided to look for healthier alternatives to treat my skin, which led me to start this entire wellness journey. – You can read more about my story HERE.
Cod Liver oil is one of the richest sources of Vitamin A, which is essential for healthy skin and a strong immune system. It’s also a fantastic source of omega 3 to help reduce inflammation in the body. I usually take two caps during the day, either with breakfast or lunch.
When buying cod liver oil is important to invest a few more bucks on a reputable brand. If you’re kind of on a budget, but want to get a good brand, choose this one. If you’d like to get the crème de la crème in cod liver oils and you’re willing to invest a little more, then go for this one.
So first of all what the heck are enzymes and what are they for?
Think of enzymes as little agents that help breakdown proteins, fats and carbohydrates so the body can absorb and use these nutrients with more ease. I can’t state enough the importance of supporting the digestive process with enzymes SPECIALLY if you’ve ever taken a round of antibiotics, have been on birth control pills or following a diet high in refined foods, sugars and carbohydrates.
All of these factors affects the body’s natural production of enzymes. When the digestive tract is compromise, we tend to experience acid reflux, gas, bloating, stomaches, headaches and constipation.
When taking enzymes is important to choose a brand that’s free of dairy, wheat, soy and other fillers that can actually compromise the digestive process. – I usually take one or two capsules with my meals.
If your digestion is compromised and needs EXTRA support, I’d recommend to start with this one. And if you’ve been on a health journey for a little while, you follow a clean (or healthy-ish) diet and want more support to help your body breakdown foods, then I’d recommend to choose this one.
Multi-Collagen Protein Powder
I love this brand because it has a blend of 5 types of collagen to support all types of body tissues: joints, muscles, tendons, hair, nails, the intestinal lining and skin — Looking for extra skin health support? Download this free guide
The intestinal lining is where 90% of the immune system lives, so if you truly want to stay healthy and vibrant then it makes total sense to maintain a strong L.I.
If you aren’t a breakfast-eater like me, a quick shake using a scoop of this collagen protein mixed in a glass of almond milk, will keep you going to for most of your morning. (See the super powders I use in my daily post-workout shake). You can also blend it in your coffee or tea.
Grass-Fed Beef Liver
When I was a kid, my grandma used to make liver once a week – 😖 I used to wonder, why was’t she “cool” enough to give me chicken nuggets instead. Well…ignorant Jen was clueless about the TREMENDOUS health benefits this wonderful organ provides.
Even lions know that the most precious part of their pray is the liver and that’s the first part they eat. Our native ancestors have consumed liver for thousands of years because of all the benefits this superfood provides.
Liver is the most concentrated source of Vitamin A which is essential for skin and eye health, strengthens the immune system and supports cellular turnover. Liver is also a great source of iron (important for energy production), copper (supports the immune system) and B-vitamins – in particular vitamin B12 and folate.
B vitamins are important for helping convert food into energy, which is a MUST if you want to feel energetic and vibrant. And folate is necessary for cellular growth, which is super important for women of childbearing age (Ahem…hello to all my girls in their 30s!) – Click on the photo below to see all the details of the brand I love.
Also known as Nature’s over achiever.
First thing I should say is.. WOW!!! This stuff really works for me. Besides adding it to my post-work out shake, I also mix it in my matcha latte. It gives me an uplifting feeling, and a stable boost of energy and focus. – It usually takes 10-15 minutes for me to feel the effects.
Cordyceps help support physical energy and vitality by optimizing oxygen uptake and increasing endurance. If you’re looking to increase long-lasting energy levels without crashing, then look no further!
