You’ve been asking about all the goodies I add to my post-workout shake. So in this brief article, I’ll share the brands I trust for my powder supplements and the purpose for each of them.
Since two months I ago, I started working out more consistently and felt the need to add a post-workout shake to my nutrition. And let me tell you! There’s a A LOT of crappy brands out there that promote themselves as “healthy,” but when you read the ingredients, it’s just a bunch of fillers.
I’m very careful with the supplements I use because my goal, besides staying fit, is to maintain a healthy gut. So reading ingredients of the products I buy is always a MUST.
I’ve been drinking this post-workout shake for almost two months, and I love how such a filling and tasty drink provides so many benefits to my hormonal balance, skin health, immune system and gut health.

Multi-Collagen Protein Powder – I love this brand because it has a blends of all 5 types of collagen to provide a variety of health benefits including promoting healthy skin and nails, while giving your joint and gut the support they need. Mushroom powders – This is a new a discovery for me. I started learning about the benefits of mushroom powder while I was working at a supplement store. One of my co-workers used to swear by them, so I decided to give them a try to see what all this rave was about. And he was right, these mushrooms work magic in my gut health and energy levels. There are tons of different types of mushrooms with a variety of benefits, so I’ll share about the ones I’ve used and love.
Cordyceps: aka Nature’s over achiever. First thing I should say is WOW! This stuff really works for me. Besides adding it in my post-work out shake, I also mix it in my matcha latte at work. It gives me an uplifting feeling, a stable boost of energy and focus. Cordyceps help support physical energy and vitality by optimizing oxygen uptake and increasing endurance.
Reishi: It’s also called the “King of Mushrooms.” Reishi is an adaptogen, meaning that it helps the body adapt to life’s ups and downs. Rishi mushrooms help the body cope with everyday physical and emotional stress by restoring balance and strengthening the immune system in a natural way.
Maca Powder: Maca is a root that grows in The Andes in Peru and it’s well known to boost energy levels, maintain hormonal balance, increase stamina and improve mood. I love this brand because Maca can be pricey at most health food stores, but TerraSoul provides high quality maca in generous amounts. They remove the starch in maca to make it more digestible and bioavailable for the body to use.
Lucuma Powder: This is my favorite fruit! It grows in Peru and it’s a fruit like any other. If you get a chance to try it, do it! I use it as a low-sugar sweetener and also to add antioxidants and fiber to my post-workout shake. It has a light butterscotch and maple syrup undertone. I also get my Lucuma powder from TerraSoul because of its high quality and generous quantity.
Now that you know everything I add to my post-workout shake and why, let me share the exact quantities I use:
Jen’s Post-Workout Shake
- 1 glass of almond milk (or any other milk of your choice )
- 1 scoop Multi-Collagen protein powder
- 1 scoop Cordyceps powder
- 1 scoop Reishi powder
- 1 tsp Maca powder
- 1 tsp Lucuma powder
- 1 tbsp almond butter (for added creaminess)
- Blend all the ingredients and enjoy! Easy peasy, right? It takes less than 5 minutes to pour and blend. This post workout shake will keep you satisfied, energized and feeling like a million bucks!
